Is this a 64-bit OS?

If so see step 2 of the following guide...

Yes, this is a 64-bit system, but the 'Advanced Settings...' option does not appear when I right-click on 'DefaultAppPool.' Is this an error with my IIS installation?

I'm sorry those directions are for IIS 7 or newer.

Try the following...

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/405f5bb5-87a3-43d2-8138-54b75db73aa1.mspx?mfr=true

Thanks,

Ok, I set it to true, although I needed to replace "True" with "1" for it to flip the boolean.

But, It hasn't made a difference.

Did you reset IIS after making this change?

I think you might need to. Open a command prompt and type 'IISReset'

I did some searching on this error and came up with a few suggestions.

1. IIS Settings for trust are set too high
http://forums.asp.net/t/1095522.aspx/1?Required+permissions+cannot+be+acquired+

2. Installer wasn't run as Administrator. To test this uninstall Web Tracks and then right click on the installer exe and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Ok, I reinstalled webtracks with the local admin account, and made no difference.

I've attempted to edit the web.config to raise the trust permissions, but haven't had any luck. What is the recommended level to trust needed to run webtracks?

Will I need to edit Web Track's web.config file and lift it to the correct permissions?

or is there a way to allow Web Tracks to run with the trust settings it comes with?

I'm sorry for the late reply.

Is this a new server or do you have other websites being served by IIS on this computer.

By default these restrictions are not in place and I have not come accross this error before.

Try editing the web.config file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Gritware\Web Tracks\WebRoot

Add the following right below the "sytem.web" section so it looks as follows

...

...

Thanks,

This server was hosting a WSUS through IIS. While troubleshooting Webtracks, I've re-installed IIS but have yet to setup WSUS again.

I've added the new trust level. Here is the error it is displaying.
Server Error in '/WebTracks' Application.

You placed the line outside of the system.web section. You need to place it inside the system.web section

Correct

Your entry

look for the system.web opening tag further towards the top of the file

Thanks,

Wow, not sure how I missed that close tag.

Ok, the web.config is correct now, but it is returning this error from the server:
