This is probably a silly question, but where is the database located and can it be moved to a network share?  I need to be sure I'm getting this backed up at night and can't do that if it's on my computer. I'm using Web Tracks 9.

Hi Daisy,

The database by default is located at:
C:\Program Files\Gritware\Web Tracks\WebRoot\App_Data\WebTracks.mdb

You can move the database but you cannot move it to a network folder due to permissions issues that will occur in IIS.

If you move the folder to another location make sure the "Network Service" account has modify permissions to the new folder.  Also you will need to edit the database connection string in the db.config file to point to this new location.  The db.config file is located in the "WebRoot" folder.

Thanks,

Okay. Is there an easy way through the web interface that I can backup this file or do I just make a copy of that file by going to the folder?

Hi Daisy,

Yes, you just need to backup the WebTracks.mdb file.

Edit: There's not an option within the Web Interface itself to do this.
