When trying to run an audit on a Win7 pc, the error of RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA").

When trying to audit an XP pc it returns the error of AddRemove requested registry access is not allowed.

Still having trouble; mostly with Windows 7 Pro machines. I noticed that the netsh command has been retired according to the message I get when running this on the Win7 machine. Any updates to this?

Hi,

Try the following from the command prompt (run as administrator) on Windows 7....

netsh firewall set service type=remoteadmin mode=enable

You may get a deprecated message but just ignore this warning.

OR

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="remote administration" new enable=yes

AND

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows management instrumentation (wmi)" new enable=yes

Thanks,

The command worked, but still getting the RPC error message. Alternatively , I ran the WTAudit.exe which worked and created the xml file. What process do you take then to get that xml file into the database?

Sorry for the late reply,

To get the xml file into the database you need to open a command prompt and issue the following command...

C:>wtaudit.exe mode=import

Note: you can copy wtaudit.exe from the c:\program files\gritware\web tracks\wtaudit folder on the computer where Web Tracks is installed.

Click here for more information on wtaudit.exe

After running the netsh commands on the Windows 7 computer did you run through the rpc troubleshooting guide?

Yes, and for whatever reason all those items were ok. I did get it to work on one Win7 pc after I did the netsh command and then verified that I could get to the registry. On another box, all I had to do was disable the Windows firewall; it wasn't allowing ping.

I have created a pair of audit records (the CompName.xml files)
I cannot get the wtaudit.exe mode=import to work.
I'm in command prompt, I have navigated to the folder that has the xml files and WTAUDIT but get the following pop-up error:
The Parameter 'WEB_SERVICE_URL' is required when 'MODE=LDAP'

C:\Program Files\Gritware\Web Tracks\WTAudit>wtaudit.exe mode=import

What do I need to do to import the audit files?

Hi,

Try...

C:\Program Files\Gritware\Web Tracks\WTAudit>wtaudit.exe mode=import WEB_SERVICE_URL=http://YourServer/webtracks/services/webtracksservices.asmx

Edit 'YourServer' to be the computer name on which Web Tracks runs.

Thanks!
